Summer 2015, Week 2

The first week, the kids enjoyed the perks of no schedules, replacing socks and tennis shoes with crocks, and a visit to the grand parents.  Though the sunscreen is lathered on year round, they also enjoyed the halt of rains and the return of the sun...though the heat was something we are all still try to adjust.

This week, we began camps.  Both Abigail and John were back at UCC for Summer Fun.  Abigail was very busy with art camps at Lily B and Art Van Grow.  This was her first experience at her new school and it was a great one.  She watched the Book of Life, had pizza, and painted a skull on canvas.  The skull has a pink background and is decorated in jewelry.  At Art Van Grow, she painted a unicorn and mermaid,  and even made a mermaid out of soft clay.  Her art classes really inspired her.
John found his inspiration at music class; Sissy, Mama, and Alicia joined him.  He was so happy to be back and sing and play guitar with Miss Meg and Miss Janice.  Abigail not so much...
We had our first trip of the season to the club.  Miss Alicia came to help us as Matt was out of town.  Abigail played mermaids, swimming to and fro, diving and jumping.  John enjoyed jumping and really tried to ditch me and jump in the deep side -- he is not scared of the water.  I am very fearful of his fearlessness.

John drawing guitars.  He really was getting excited about music class starting up again.

The sunny heat has lead to several popsicle snacks.

Abigail and her painted unicorn.
John found a turtle at the Trinity park duck pond.
Botanical Gardens.  We visited early Saturday morning.  We were able to hear the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra rehearse the Beatles!
Despite getting to the gardens early to beat the heat, the kids felt hot.  Dancing to All You Need is Love, Let it Be and Lucy in the Sky definitely made up for Abigail, and John was stoked to see all the instruments and hear the music.

Later that day we had ice cream and play ground fun before grocery shopping.  We even had a bike ride with Mr. Jeff and Hudson.
