October rewind

We always seem to have a scarcity of posts in October.  We get so busy with school each year -- this year is the same.  We have been busy with family projects, spelling words, reading, math flash cards, swimming, and baseball and other evening activities.  John has started Bob books and is learning to read.

As always in this family, fun is top priority.  We have learned our spelling words and practiced our math while skipping, walking, singing, playing in sand.  We have dressed up like favorite characters in books.

John and Jordan made fudge for us.  They have been visiting the Central library and bringing home tons of Star Wars , dinosaur, and Halloween books for us to read.  It has been so nice.  They have also made some amazing decorations for Halloween.

John was a big trooper one afternoon.  He went to get his Flu shot.  Jordan and he got Icee's afterwards.  He wore his bandaid for days, telling others, "Go get your flu shot.  The flu can kill you."

The weather has been wonderful so we have spent many weekends outdoors.  We walked along the Trinity trails this day.

We even went fishing at the club and had a picnic dinner.  Abigail caught several fish.  John, Abigail, and several Lily B friends had a blast playing in the sand dunes along the golf course.
My favorite memory of the evening - Abigail wanted to go on the other side of the pond to get fishing supplies.  Matt and I were finally getting a chance to eat and asked to give us a few minutes.  She could not wait, so I suggested she ask one of the attendants inquire if any of the supplies were on this side as well.  Of course, she did better than that.  She convinced him to drive her there in a golf cart.  John went at the last minute, and I figured the young man would have done well with one, but two was a handful.  Abigail collected the supplies and then set about finding another unsuspecting sole to drive she and John back over.  This time, after talking up a beautiful young mom, she found her transportation! Each time, Abigail enraptured them and then after commitment added the kid brother who needed a nap 4 hours prior.  Matt and I were in hysterics watching the faces as the 100 yard drive in the golf cart turned to absolute pandemonium.

Class trip to Casa Mañana to see Mr Popper's Penguins.

Heading off to Opelousas.  It was a great trip.  Sadly I only took photos at the airport.  But Jobe took a few for me.

For the kids, the best part of the trip was meeting Ryann, and that she never tired of their attention.

Abigail came with Sean, Ryann, Bebe and Jobe to visit Teese, Bob, and Jill.   She was a sweetheart and hung out with us while we all talked.  It was so great to get hugs from everyone.  And for Ryann, to meet more family and see some old pictures.

The walkathon was held on a sunny warm morning.  The kids were so excited to be out and about together and enjoying the band as they walked through the neighborhood.

Family spirit night -- always a favorite for Ab.  She as always had a wonderful time.  John not so much and Ab generously came home early (first year to not close out the show) for John.

I love her hot sweaty, running everywhere self.

On the walk home we had an evening visit to Tuck, our favorite neighbor.
Matt was working that weekend, but still managed to go get donuts for the kids.  Abigail was so excited, she set the table and patiently waited for everyone to wake up  and eat.

When Jordan comes to a ball game, it is all love, hugs, and chaos for one sweet photo!

We had just lost the championship game, I knew John was sad, but his enthusiasm and release in the water fountains at the square was just great to behold.  Abigail really wanted him to hurry up.  She wanted to go to ArtsGoggle.

And we got there!!  And of course we did hug everyone we knew.
We also bought a classmates art at the Lily B exhibit.

We had an amazing sleepover with friends and hung out at the pizza restaurant.

Our pumpkin family project.

John and Ada bonding over Alien Armageddon -- I wonder where that gene game from?

Crazy hair day, mismatch clothes, and red ribbon day - Story book parade week.  She thrived and made all 100% green conduct.  We were so proud of her accomplishment.

John had a great season of baseball.  He learned at practice to catch pop up balls.  He caught a few grounders and tagged people during the games.  He really improved his swing and hitting the ball, often making it to the outfield.  He struggled with his desire to do more, but he is already looking forward to the next season!!
