We are really off to an amazing summer. The last week of school was full of fun! Rain with the fun that made it even more fun. Abigail had a cool week including Terrific Tuesday culture day, game day, and reading day. We had a great end of the year Girl Scouts pizza in the park in our rain boots party. The last day of school was full of games, crafts, good food, talent shows and movies. It was followed up with an amazing evening movie at the Rhodes home -- a loud crazy crew in the storm. The kids had a blast, and popcorn was the only thing found on the floors.
| Abigail's first request for the summer was a visit to the zoo. |
| The kids had a blast and were worn out from a full fun day. |
| Tuesday, they hung out in the morning at home doing crafts and making dinosaurs. |
| Wednesday morning, Abigail and many Lily B friends started the neighborhood science camp. She learned about density and made a bottle of different liquids of varying densities. She also explored dry ice. We loved the lessons that evening. Thursday, was gross day. They made edible blood, goo/slime, and got to take home worms and bugs that were gross but good for their gardens. |
| Wednesday afternoon at Tillery park. |
| Bike rides with mom on Thursday. |
| And swimming lessons in the evening. The best part of the swimming lessons, is returned to the Fort Worth Swim school. They were charged up by John's willingness to push himself. Abigail was stunned to find she was doing lessons with Mr. James! Mama and Dad were Yahooing in the background. Abigail is scared of Mr. James because he will not let her goof off and delay. She is being pushed in a good way by a great teacher. We have not had that since Miss Rachel graduated. |
John tried to cook eggs with Dad and Mama. The kids love Dad's scrambled eggs. I think John has much more appreciation now!
| Friday Science camp was Snow Day!! |
| Friday, the kids went to the Stockyards and watched the cattle drive. Abigail's response, "That's it!" |
| Week 2: Started off as an early morning drive to Glen Rose, TX. Immediately after our arrival at Rough Creek Lodge, we were petting ponies, launching rockets, and put-put golfing. |
| Rocket launch. John and William were able to each launch a rocket. |
| Within a few hours, we were fishing, tomahawk throwing, and shooting air rifles. And this was just John. Abigail was also visiting the goats and horses and learning archery. |
| Abigail woke up early the following day to catch 6 fish and still managed to visit the goats and horses too before the rest of us were up. |
| We went on a nature trail and fossil hunt. We met a turtle, cardinals, horses, turkey vultures, and lots of cattle along our route. |
