Summer Week 3

Abigail had a TCU art camp.  It was all day and she learned about several different art mediums.  She even had an art exhibit on Friday evening.  She really enjoyed weaving and painting.  She introduced me to several of her teachers and friends.  Apparently, I am a great cross stitcher according to Abigail -- like world's top!  That was quite embarrassing since I can barely sew up her stuffed animals.  Abigail is still reading books daily and practicing piano.  She has been so helpful to me this week around the house, and she even came to get my car inspection and get petit fours for some friends.

John is excelling in swim lessons.  He loves to practice diving in and doing big swim arms to you , monkey arms along the wall,  and sometimes a back float.   John has gotten really into airplanes and dinosaurs.  Matt made another model, A-10 plane for John.  He and Jordan do lots of dinosaur fighting and drawing all day long! This weekend John became obsessed with a blue gun -- we ordered it online but it is back ordered ...so how many days will I hear about this blue gun.

We began the long process of hanging up the prolific amount of art work that Abigail has produced lately -- it may take weeks.  John hung up his two dinosaur pictures as well.  I had a Eureka moment on Saturday and decided that Abigail could really benefit from scrapbooking.   Matt and I bought her a book, some washi tape and stickers and let her look at a few example books online.  Then she pasted and glued and taped and decorated several pages.   I cannot wait to the time to surprise her with a diary.
Well no surprises here, Rose was big all week.  She is eating well, getting to know us all, exploring and playing and bonding with Abigail.

One evening, Rose hid so well after the kids were asleep.  Matt and I looked for a solid hour for her.  We kept thinking about how Demi did the same thing, but the idea that Abigail would awake and find her missing was terrifying.  She surfaced again as a bolt running across our bed around 1 am.

We still have fights over who gets to scoop poop.  The fighting leads to bigger messes, so I have been doing it for the most part.  No surprises there either.

Abigail  really campaigned hard for this piece to be showcased in the exhibit; she painted for me,  a white tulip with blue tips.  It is gorgeous.

John and Jordan went to the dinosaur exhibit at the Science Center, bringing home a dinosaur egg that hatched!

Scrapbooking -- she has a pile of papers in her room that are her memories of certain events or fun times.  The art teachers were laughing at how she saved the foam work sketches of all her works.  She insisted they must go into there folder to take home.  They now have a great place to live in her scrapbook.
John was creative too -- see the washi taped hole punch and the blue book mark he made!

Rose on her cat tree and sleeping with Abigail in her bed.  We wrote down the day we adopted Rose too.

John is sweet and gentle with Rose.

Popsicles by the pool to finish out the last of the light this weekend.
