John and Jordan work on his letters and reading two letter words these days. This picture is from January.

Our Lily B swarm -- such a sweet surprise last Friday morning -- we were swarmed by our friends.
John is enjoying baseball. He loves to go throw the ball with Matt. He has a great swing and a good aim. His coaches are letting him play different positions this year -- he has played second base and catcher -- not just outfield. This has really helped him stay focused and understand and be more comfortable with the rules of the game. He loved being catcher and while his balls might roll to the coach at pitch in the end, they roll right to their feet. They surely must like that instead of the ball that heads to 3rd base all the time.
Scootering is big. John likes to scooter every day -- going on scooter rides with Jordan, Mom, Dad or the whole family. He and Abigail even played red light green light on the scooter.
On Tuesday, he took me to Open House at school and showed me all the tasks he might be responsible for in a day - like bell ringer, line leader, prayer helper, lunch helper. His teacher told me of the apartment, John and buddy, Charlie, created.. It is their apartment with two beds and a kitchen. They go to LSU. John cooks and Charlie does the dishes. They go to all the classes together at LSU. The teacher also showed me a video of a hardhat painting brush that John created to paint the other day. He painted his whole picture using the brush attached to the hard hat. It was adorable. At the end of the video John says That looks fun and easy but it is hard work.
Abigail, John and Jordan have been decorating the kids doors with beautiful crafts. Jordan has been teaching John two letter words -- He recognizes them all over now - words like us, to, and am.
Abigail has been enjoying her gymnastics class. She even has a special gymnastics outfit too. She has been working hard at writing well and reading. She is at J level and her class cheered her on at the accomplishment. Her friends and teachers have all noticed her hard work. We had a few playdates to celebrate too. Girl Scouts have been fun and Abigail is getting to know the girls and see just how much they have in common -- like cats, dinosaurs, and wanting to help others. The other morning she read to me one story in both english and spainish. Hearing her read in English and Spainish was so beautiful. She is so beautiful when she reads I am almost breathless with emotion and love.
The oreo night -- after the open house, everyone had eaten dinner but me....I put the kids to bed and really just wanted to eat something sweet. ...so I had oreos for dinner. Abigail came in and found me. She was laughing in hysterics to find mamma eating oreos for dinner. She has come down each night since to make sure I am not eating the oreos again.

John's plant at school. He is looking forward to it coming home.
|
John is typically my chief helper...yesterday, Abigail decided to cook. She measured out equal parts of raisins, chocolate chips, and marshmallows....seems good right. But she hid a secret ingredient before serving... water. Bebe and I were in hysterics eating our less than delicious dessert and thinking how she had inherited the hidden surprise trait to cooking from her great grandmother.
