First days of school

It is still pretty warm but we all agree it is nice to walk to school.  We visit neighbors, like Tuck, and talk with our friends along the way.

We had our first "passing notes" on September 1st.  As always, it is about a boy.  A very nice boy, named Henry, who I hear today is changing his name to Lloyd.

We headed out to Cathy's critters farm in North Dallas to spend the day with kangaroo, llamas, snakes, dogs, cats, bunnies, chickens, raccoons, turtles, chinchilla and more!!  John really liked the birds.  Abigail was camped out with the bunnies.

Abigail's new tic tac toe game was a 5x 5 grid....the rules kept changing so she finally won.

A rare cool night -- we spent it eating and relaxing outside on the Trinity.  Abigail played on the trails, greeted 12 dog families and petted every dog, we all enjoyed the trails and wildlife setting.

John has been such a sweetheart.  One evening, he woke up and asked for his smoothie which earlier he had been too tired to drink earlier.  He finished it, and said, "Thank you mama.  You are the sweetest mama in the whole world."  PS.  The rock in the picture -- that's the Soccer's Stone.

Dinosaurs are still huge.  The kids are even known to play together peacefully and working as a team in their animal/dinosaur world.  Do not believe me -- I have video!  And it is awesome. :)

He ran the bases this game. Afterwards, he was tired and I held him the whole way to the car.  Matt thought I should have him walk.  He is 38 pounds and not going to be this little and cute and cuddly for much longer.  I loved my walk to the car.

He is doing really well in base ball.  His favorite part is the team huddle after the game, shouting Blue Jays.  Then each child gets two tickets to buy treats at the concessions stand.  John shared his tickets this evening with Abigail.

Abigail enjoying the game.  She cheers John on and keeps an iPad handy in case things get boring.
She is doing great in her reading.  She is in the shooting stars reading group and reads us a book every night.   Her class also now has math and spelling tests!  At home she is really helping me out.  When we were heading out for an outing, she packed the snacks and grabbed the water bottles.

Crazy bomb bath -- super fun explosion of bubbles that made a long soak so much fun!  She is enjoying school.  She loves her new teachers, and so do we!  Today she told me funny stories about school -- Henry L is changing his name to Lloyd.  She is in the Shooting Stars group with Caleb, Lloyd, Leah and Henry J.  She wished they were the Animals.  Natalie was in a group by herself called Ruby Animal Love.  Stella was in another group with a new kid from Paris.
